Center
A total of eight people, two of whom are Veterinarians, work at Didim Municipality Street Animal Protection and Rehabilitation Center. Our outdoor collection team collects stray and weakened dogs in accordance with the Animal Protection Law No. 5199, evaluates complaints and takes part in emergency interventions. Our shelter consists of 28 indoor paddocks and 8 outdoor paddocks. One to a maximum of two dogs (depending on the size of the dogs) are kept in closed cages. The floor and walls of each cage are covered with washable and disinfectable material. Washable and disinfectable wooden nests are used to prevent direct contact with the ground. Boxes; They are divided according to their purpose of use as puppy boxes, sick animal boxes and observation boxes. The nutrition of our guests in our shelter is provided entirely with dry food and home-cooked meals collected fresh daily from hotels, restaurants and bakeries. Approximately 8,500 kg of dry food is consumed annually in our shelter.
Stray dogs collected by our collection teams within the borders of our district are first taken to the observation section of the Center. After their first examination, they are taken into cages. Shortly after arrival, male and female dogs are neutered and vaccinated against rabies, and after the recovery period is over, they are returned to their habitat or adopted. Each sterilized dog is fitted with a microchip or registered ear tag, and information about the dog in question is recorded, and follow-up and control work is carried out through this database. Our aim in neutering is to reduce the number of dogs by preventing uncontrolled breeding and to create a better living space for animals.
In order to achieve our goal of "Healthy Society and Healthy Environment", we carry out our work in a manner that is sensitive to humans, the environment and stray animals. In order to meet the expectations of our citizens, we provide services with existing methods and practices. Within the framework of the authorities given to us by law, we provide rehabilitation of stray animals in order to prevent diseases that can be transmitted from stray animals to humans.
In addition, among our main goals are to adopt dogs so that they have a home, and to solve the problem of homeless stray animals together with citizens by creating awareness in individuals who want to own animals to adopt from shelters rather than buying them.
